KYIV, UKRAINE/ The International Conference on Biomass for Energy will facilitate practical realization of biomass-to-energy technologies in Ukraine and promote a fruitful cooperation between Ukrainian and foreign scientists, experts and businessmen in this field.

Conferences held previously generated great interest in Ukraine and abroad.  About 200 participants including 50 attendees from Europe and the USA took part in each forum.

About the event

The price of natural gas in Ukraine has been rising drastically.  As a result, some sectors of the national economy appeared on the verge of viability. Such situation clearly demonstrates urgent necessity of using alternative and renewable energy sources.

Among the renewable energy sources, biomass can play the leading part in replacement of natural gas and other fossil fuels. Ukraine has quite a big potential of biomass available for energy production (19-23 mt/yr). Utilization of the biomass potential for energy purposes can cover about 14% of the Ukraine's energy demand.
